Dartmouth Liberal Convos

The Dartmouth East Liberal Association hosted a vibrant and well-attended social gathering on Wednesday, March 11, at the Millstone Public House on 250 Baker Drive, turning what was promoted as a relaxed evening of conversation and community into a packed event full of energy, policy discussion, and party momentum.

Billed as “Let’s Talk Politics (and Enjoy Great Food),” the event welcomed Liberals from across Dartmouth and beyond for an engaging mix of socializing, refreshments, and substantive political dialogue.

A major highlight of the evening was the surprise attendance of Nova Scotia Liberal Party Interim Leader Iain Rankin (often referred to in contexts as Ian Ranking), MLA for Timberlea-Prospect and former Premier. Rankin delivered an inspiring update on the state of the Liberal Party, touching on ongoing budget discussions in the legislature, the party’s strategic priorities amid current challenges, and words of encouragement for members looking ahead.

He emphasized resilience and opportunity, highlighting the upcoming by-election in Cape Breton as a key chance to demonstrate the party’s strength and commitment to Nova Scotians. Rankin also addressed the forthcoming leadership race, set for later in 2026, urging grassroots support and active participation to shape the party’s future direction.

The event fostered lively interactions, with many meaningful discussions taking place among attendees, within Electoral District Associations (EDAs), and between EDA representatives. Topics ranged from local issues in Dartmouth to broader provincial policies, creating an atmosphere of collaboration and renewed enthusiasm.

Hosted by the Dartmouth East Liberal Association, the gathering exemplified the welcoming and inclusive spirit that defines Liberal communities in the region. Attendees enjoyed the Millstone Public House’s offerings while building connections that will strengthen the party’s groundwork in Dartmouth and across Nova Scotia.

As one participant noted, the evening was more than just a social—it was a reminder of the power of community-driven politics and the optimism surrounding the Liberals’ path forward. With events like this, the party continues to energize its base ahead of critical electoral opportunities.
